Perspective on Tragedy

After hearing and watching the tragedy in Boston I am reminded of several thoughts:
There are cruel people filled with hate in this world, there are a thousand times more people with good hearts and good intentions who bring light into dark situations.
Life is filled with risks. If I’m not willing to take any risks, to think I can live in a protective bubble, I am not really living.
The only things we have control over are our thoughts and reactions.
Security cannot make us safe it only increases our chances.
There are no guarantees in life.
As we mourn the loss of innocence, safety and life we allow ourselves to journey toward healing.
It is a choice to live in fear.

  1. Great post Karen. As are the others. Thank you so much.

    • Thank you, Ken! I’m thankful I was introduced to your blog. I appreciate your vulnerability in sharing your journey with depression. What a beautiful way to connect with others!

      • Blimey Karen! (Or should i say”Gosh!”). You’ve hit the nail on the head.Yes, it is about sharing vulnerability, and connecting with others gives me such a buzz. A very perceptive comment by you, and one that is truly appreciated.
My next blog is going to about suicide. A tough subject, but I hope that, when you have read it (no obligation!) you will see what I am getting at.
Go easy, and keep a wide margin to your life.
